Privacy policy

Who is responsible

Perfume Orbit is an independent personal project based in Texas, United States. For privacy questions or requests, contact contact@perfumeorbit.com.

What data is processed

No payment details, location or contacts are requested, and there is no advertising tracking or third-party profiling.

What for

To provide the service you asked for: authenticating you, storing your inventory and working out which fragrances you have gone longest without wearing. The legal basis is performance of the contract for use of the service.

Visibility of the shared catalogue

Your collection, your rotations, your ratings, your personal notes and your usage history are private.

Content you submit to the shared catalogue — such as a fragrance's name, its house, its characteristics or a photograph — may become visible to other users once approved. Do not include personal or private information in these contributions.

Authorship, licensing and the conditions applying to photographs and other contributions are explained in the Terms of use.

Sessions and cookies

Perfume Orbit uses essential technologies to keep you signed in and provide the service. It does not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

This public website also uses Google Analytics to see how many people visit it and where they arrive from. Those are measurement cookies, not advertising ones: they are not used to personalise ads or to follow you across other sites. The application itself, once you are signed in, carries no analytics at all.

Service providers

Perfume Orbit relies on trusted service providers to host, operate and protect the service. They process information only as necessary to provide those services and under the instructions applicable to them.

For how long

For as long as the account stays active.

When you close your account from your account settings, access to the account ends and its personal collection data is removed from the active service. Limited copies may remain temporarily where necessary for backups, security, fraud prevention or legal obligations, and are removed or anonymised through the applicable retention process.

Approved catalogue contributions may remain after account closure because catalogue records and other users' collections may rely on them. They are no longer displayed as part of the closed account. Contributions still awaiting review are deleted along with the account.

A limited pseudonymous record may be retained to document the permission associated with an approved contribution and to respond to rights claims. It is not used for advertising or profiling.

Your rights

Your account can be closed from your account settings. By writing to the contact email you can also ask for a copy of your data or ask for it to be corrected, wherever you live. If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR additionally gives you the rights to restriction, objection and portability, and you may lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.
